The Gyldfeldt Quartett was founded in 2016. The members are: August Gyldfeldt Magnusson and Jonas Reinhold (violins), Sarah Praetorius (viola) and Anna Herrmann (cello). The ensemble is much promoted by Prof. Frank Reinecke (Vogler Quartett) and Günter Pichler (formerly Alban Berg Quartett).
The quartet has visited a number of renowned masterclasses such as the “International Chamber Music Campus” of Jeunesses Musicales Germany, “ProQuartet” in Paris or the "Accademia Musicale Chigiana" in Siena and has been coached by international instructors like Eberhard Feltz, Norman Fischer (Concord String Quartet), Yves Sandos (Amaryllis Quartett), Dirk Mommertz (Fauré Quartett) as well as by members of the Vogler Quartett and the Kuss Quartett.
The quartet has had concerts both in Germany and abroad. The musicians were in Sweden, France, Zürich, Siena/Italy and played at different famed festivals like “Musiksommer am Zürichsee” in association with the “Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern” – and the “Kurt Weill Fest” in Dessau. In September 2017 the Gyldfeldt Quartett also gave a concert in the Duncan Recital Hall in Houston/Texas.
From October 2018 on, the young string quartet is part of the famous String Quartet Class of Günter Pichler at the Escuela de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid, thanks to a scholarship of the "Albéniz Foundation". The Quartet have been part of the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Scholarship since 2017. In 2019 the ensemble is also financially supported by the Jeunesses Musicales Germany.
