August Magnusson was born 1997 in Oslo.
He had his first Violin lessons through the Suzuki Method at the age of 4 ½. At 7 years of age he began with Igor Rybak.
In 2010 August started at the Barratt-Due Music Institute in Oslo with Eileen Siegel (Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra). From 2013 August studied with Geir-Inge Lotsberg (Oslo String Quartet).
In 2014 he moved to Berlin and became the student of Prof. Johannes Kittel at the C. Ph. E. Bach College of Music. In the same year he also participated at the Verbier Festival.
He has attended music courses with Daniel Harding, Boris Garlitsky, Stephan Picard, Pierre Amoyal, Vogler Quartet, Dirk Mommerz, Robert Rozek, Stephanie Chase, Günter Pichler and Norman Fischer.
Since 2015 he is a Bachelor student with Prof. Carolin Widmann at the University of Music and Theater in Leipzig. He also had chamber music lessons with Frank Reinecke, Yves Sandos, Gerald Fauth and Caspar Frantz at the HMT Leipzig.
In 2016 he and his String Quartet (Gyldfeldt Quartet) won the second price in the 19th Chamber Music competition of the HMT Leipzig. Since the summer of 2017 the Gyldfeldt Quartet had concerts in Sweden, Switzerland, Houston/Texas, France and all over Germany.
August Magnusson completed an internship in the MDR Radio Symphony Orchestra. Also he had a time contract in the second violins of the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig from 2018 to 2019.
From August 2019 on, August Magnusson is a member of the second violins in the Weimarer Staatskapelle.
In June of 2018 he played as soloist in the Gewandhaus together with the Academic Orchestra Leipzig.
